B. Embankment construction

C. River/Channel strengthening

D. Flood attenuation lakes

Non-structural methods are those which do not involve any structures but involve research, technology etc. For example:

A. floodplain management,

B. stream corridor protection,

C. floodproofing of existing structures,

D. removing flood-prone development,

E. stormwater management,

F.watershed management,

G. flood forecasting, and

H. flood response.
