The position of a body moving along x-axis at time to is given by x = (t^2 - 4t +6)m. The distance travelled by body in time interval t = 0 to t = 3s is

we can see here that velocity will change its sign at t=2 sec so at after 2 sec particle will return back so we have to calculate distance from t = 0 to t =2 and then add distance travelled in t = 2 to t = 3 sec..

answer is 5 metre.
