If reading of voltmeter V shown in the figure at resonance is 200V , find the quality factor of the circuit :-

The answer is 4.

Explanation:

We know that

Circuit at resonance  

VR = 50V

VR = iR

R = 50/i

Similarly;

Vc = 200 V

Vc = iXc

200 / i = Xc

Now find the quality factor by the formula give below.

Q = = X/R    where: X = Capacitive  reactance and R  = Series resistance.

Q = Xc /R = 200 / i x i/50

Q = 200 /50

Q = 4

Thus the quality factor of the circuit is 4.
