An object is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of a convex lens of focal length 20cm. the distance of the object from the lens is 30cm.

find the 1)position
2)the magnification
3)the nature of the image formed.

Hi Dude



i) As the lens is convex

u= -30 cm
f= 20 cm
v=?

Using lens formua



1/f=1/v-1/u

1/v = 1/f+1/u
v= uf/u+f
= -600/-10
= 60 cm


As v is positive so image is real

ii) M= v/u = 60/-30 = -2

iii) Image is real.
