A motorboat covers a given distance in 6 hrs moving downstream on a river. it covers the same distances in 10 hrs moving upstream the time it takes to cover the same distance in still water

Answer:

Let speed of boat be v

Speed of stream is =X

Upstream speed=v-x

Downstream speed=v+X

Distance upstream=distance downstream

10(v-x)=6(v+X)

V=4x

Distance=6(v+X)=6(5/4*v)=7.5v

Time in still water=7.5v/v=7.5hours
