To Find:

To calculate the equivalent resistance in the following circuit.

Solution:

Here resistor of 1Ω and 1Ω are connected in parallel position, so equivalent resistance $\mathbf{R_{1}}$ :

$\mathbf{\dfrac{1}{R_{1}}=\dfrac{1}{1}+\dfrac{1}{1}}$

On solving:

$\mathbf{R_{1}=\dfrac{1}{2}=0.5}$

Here resistor of 2Ω and 2Ω are connected in parallel position, so equivalent resistance $\mathbf{R_{2}}$ :

$\mathbf{\dfrac{1}{R_{2}}=\dfrac{1}{2}+\dfrac{1}{2}}$

On solving:

$\mathbf{R_{2}=1}$

We see that 3Ω , 3Ω, $\mathbf{R_{1}\ and \ R_{2}}$ are in series, so equivalent resistance:

$\mathbf{Equivalent\ resistance = 3+3+ R_{1} + R_{2}}$

On putting respective value in above equation:

$\mathbf{Equivalent\ resistance = 3+3+ 0.5 + 1}$

Equivalent resistance = 7.5 Ω

Means equivalent resistance in the following circuit is 7.5Ω
