Find the mode of the following frequency distribution:

Class Interval: 25-30 30 - 35 35 - 40 40 - 45 45-50 50-55Frequency: 2534 50 42 38 14

Answered by admin @

The mode is "38.33".

Step-by-step explanation:

The given table:

Class Interval: 25-30       30 - 35   35 - 40   40 - 45    45-50    50-55

Frequency:     25               34            50         42             38           14

As the class 35-40 has maximum frequency. it is caled modal class.

x_{k} = 35, f_{k} = 50, f_{k- 1} = 34, f_{k + 1} = 42 and h =5

Mode = 35 + \dfrac{50 - 34}{2(50) - 34 - 42} × 5

= 35 + \dfrac{16}{24} × 5

= 35 + 3.33

= 38.33

Hence, the mode is 38.33.
