What is the quadratic equation whose one root is 3?
Quadratic equations have two roots. Restricting one root to be equal to 3, has no effect on he other root, which can be any number. Thus, there is an infinite number of quadratic equations that have one root equal to 3.
Examples:
The other root is 7, which gives us the quadratic equation x2−10x+21=0
The other root is -1000, which gives us the quadratic: x2+997x−3000=0
On the other hand, perhaps you mean that 3 is a repeated root (i.e. both roots are equal to 3). In which case, there is only one possible quadratic: x2−6x+9=0
Edit: As has pointed out, there is still an infinite number of possibilities as we can multiply the equation by any constant.
