According to the Question, Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms speech signaled a shift in US foreign policy from isolationism to internationalism.

In 1940, Roosevelt's was elected for the president for a third term and it was during the time the world was faced with instability and uncertainty. The situation was so tensed that the German Army were moving towards Europe and Great Britain was just holding its own.

Further Explanation

Many American didn’t want the United States to join the war as majority of them were committed to isolationism, but President Franklin Roosevelt saw the need to help the Great Britain and tried to convince the American people.

On January 6, 1941, Roosevelt in the speech addressed to congress explained the reason for American involvement, making a case for supporting the Great Britain and the reason for increased promotion of war industries in the country.

President Roosevelt justified American continued support to Great Britain and said that the country was fighting for the universal freedom that all people possessed.

Roosevelt further stated in his speech that American joined the war to protect the four freedoms of all nations, freedom of speech, the freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear.

Roosevelt Four freedoms were the foundational principles that developed into Atlantic Charter declared by Winston Churchill and the United Nations Declaration of January 1, 1942 including others.
