The statement is false. Hereditary is an uncontrollable risk factor.
EXPLANATION:
There are two kinds of risk factors: controllable and uncontrollable. Risk factor relates to all kinds of health problems, from stomach disorder until heart attack. The risk factor is anything that will increase the risk of someone getting an injury, disease, and other health problems. Uncontrollable risk factors are everything that cannot be changed. On the other hand, controllable risk factors are everything that can be changed with specific treatments.
Here is the list of controllable and uncontrollable risk factor:
• Controllable risk factors
Controllable risk factors are everything that we can do something about it in order to change or reduce it. Mostly, by changing our behavior in daily life, controllable risk factors could be reduced. For example, one of the risk factor of heart disease is smoking. Smoking is considered as a controllable risk factor because we can do something about it. To avoid or reduce the risk factor of heart disease from smoking, someone can quit smoking, exercise regularly, manage a healthy weight, and eat healthily.
• Uncontrollable risk factors
Differ to controllable risk factors, uncontrollable risk factors are everything which we cannot do something about it in order to reduce or avoid it. Uncontrollable risk factors usually come from genetics, such as hereditary. When it comes to genetics, we cannot do something to change is because it is given naturally as we birth. Other examples of uncontrollable risk factors besides hereditary are age, gender, race.
