Jonas's parents taught him that animals that say "woof" and have fur, a tail, and four legs are called "dogs." He saw a new animal and thought it was a dog until it "meowed." Jonas was told that an animal with fur is a dog so when he sees the cat for the first time, the first thing that comes to mind is a dog however when the cat makes a "meowed"sound , based on sound differences he could see this wasn't a dog and his parents told him that this is a cat.
