The three parallel ranges of Himalayas are:
1 - siwalik range (foothills of Himalayas) - they are the most recent formation and are located in southern part. They have lesser height . These r also called 'foothills'of Himalayas. These r about 600-1500mtrs above sea level
2 - himachal (middle Himalayas) - they r about 3600mtrs to 4500mtrs in height and r located between siwalik and greater Himalayas. They r about 60-80KMS in width. They consist of many parallel mountain ranges.They r also called central or lesser Himalayas. For example, pir panjal, mussoorie etc.
3 - these r known for the highest peaks. This range is completely covered with snow. This r about 6000mtrs-8000mtrs above sea level. These peaks have many glaciers. There r many passes in these ranges. The important passes r Burzil, Zojila, Baralafcha of Himachal pradesh
