Birds have different kinds of claws for different needs. For example: claws in ducks, goose and swan are used to swim in water. Claws in pigeon and sparrow are to hold the tree branches (to perch). Woodpeckers and parrots have claws to climb the tree. Ostriches, cranes and flamingoes walk on the land, so they are known as Wading birds. They have claws to walk on land or in shallow water. Eagles, vultures, hawk and kite are birds of prey. They have talons. Talons are sharp, strong and hooked claws in birds of prey. They use them to catch their prey (what it hunts).
