Two thirds of the earth surface is covered with water then why should we conserve water

Yes it's right that two third of the earth surface is covered with water but only 2.5–2.75% is freshwater of which 1.75–2.00% is Frozen in glaciers and ice caps and rest only 0.5–0.75% is available for human use and is available as ground freshwater. 97% of the water is salty and is not fit for usage. As the population is increasing the consumption of freshwater is also increasing that could result in the scarcity of water in our coming future and there will be a shortage of water for the future generations and that's where the need to conserve water arises. Even at present there are many places that are water scarce and don't get adequate supply of water. People of those areas stand in long queues to get 2 buckets of water but they have to do it if they want to have water in there house. This is a serious concern as it would gain it's seriousness with time because the population is no where going to decrease, it's increasing and would continue to increase. Thus it is due to this reason that there arises a need for not only water conservation but also it's judicious use.
