Two rods of equal mass m and length l

Asked by admin @ in Physics viewed by 328 People

two rods of equal mass m and equal length l along the x-axis and y-axis with their centres origin. What is the moment of inertia of both about the line x=y?

Answered by admin @

first of all " Moment of inertia of a square lamina along its diagonal is MR^2/12 ."

Here the two rods can be 2 adjacent sides of square lamina. Y=X means angle b/w rods and the line is 45°. So the line can be the diagonal .

Hence, the moment of inertia of the system is MR^2/12
