Effective resistance = 4 Ohm

Explanation:

  • In the given diagram, the current is flowing from A to B.
  • But after passing through 4 Ω resistance, that is after passing from AX we can observe a short circuit.
  • In the short circuit, the current directly flows from point Y to point Z without passing through WY.

So, the effective resistance would be equal to the first resistance.

The effective resistance = 4 Ω

If there was no short circuit in between, then the effective resistance would have been 4 Ω + 6 Ω which is 10 Ω.
