How much time will light take to cross 2mm thick glass pane if refractive index of glasses is 3/2?

Given conditions ⇒
Refractive Index = 3/2
∵ Refractive Index = Speed of the light in air/Speed of the light in glass.
3/2 = 3 × 10⁸/Speed of the light in glass.
∴ Speed of the light in glass = 2 × 10⁸ m/s.

Thickness of the glass plane = 2 mm.
= 0.2 cm.
= 0.002 m.
= 2 × 10⁻³ m.

∴ Time = (2 × 10⁻³)/(3 × 10⁸)
= 0.67 × 10⁻¹¹ s.
= 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ s.

Hence, the time taken by the light is 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ s.
