AC generator

                                DC generator

1.  In this type generator , the current is flow through a coil

In this type generator, The current is not flow through the coil.

2. It convert mechanical power into AC electrical power , it  work on principle of electromagnetic induction

It convert mechanical power into DC electrical power, it is also work on principle of electromagnetic induction.

3. AC generator generates AC electrical power.

DC generator generates dc electrical power.

It have two commutators .

It have only one commutator.

4. The AC generator produces variable output voltage in term of amplitude and time. For some instance, it have a normal frequency of 60HZ . In India it is 50HZ.

The DC generator produces constant output voltage in term of amplitude and time. Its output frequency is 0HZ.

5. It is used to power for smaller motors and electrical appliances at home. These appliances that can be operated using ac generator including juicing machine, electrical mixtures, and food mixture

It is used for functional in supplying power to heavy motors. As like off-grid batteries, rely and other electronic equipment.

6. It is less efficient for charging purpose; simply we can say that it is less reliable and efficient for charging of various devices, as like batteries, mobile.

It is more efficient for charging purpose; it is more reliable and efficient for charging various device.

7. AC generator could not produce dc power

DC generator could produce ac power

8. A AC generator does not require a special mechanism to take AC power from generator.

It is the measure difference between AC and DC generator

A dc generator requires a special mechanism to provide a DC output. it can be done mechanically with an electronically with a rectifier or commutator.  Commutator is a device which takes input in AC and gives output in DC.

9.  In AC generator uses slip ring and brush. Here does not use of commutator

In DC generator uses commutator and brushes.

It is also a constructional difference between ac and dc generator.
