A small candle 2.5 cm in size is placed 27 cm in front of a concave mirror of radius of curvature 0.36 m. At what distance from the mirror should a screen be placed in order to receive a sharp image? Describe the nature and size of the image. If the candle is moved closer to the mirror, how would the screen have to be moved to obtain sharp image?

Answered by admin @

Ho=2.5cm
u=-27cm
f=-18cm
v=?            Hi=?  1/v+1/u=1/f
1/v-1/27=-1/18
1/v=-1/18+1/27
1/v=-3+2/54
1/v=-1/54
v=-54cm
Hi/Ho=-v/u
Hi/2.5=-(-54)/27
Hi=-2*2.5
Hi=-5cm
Ans:Real and inverted image is formed at a distance of 54cm in front of the mirror with a height of 5cm
