A Heater Coil is cut into two equal parts and only one part is now used in the heater . The heat generated will now be (a)doubled (b)four times (c)one fourth (d)halved HERE IN SOLVING THIS QUESTION WHY "V" IS TAKEN AS CONSTANT WHY NOT "I" "V"=potential difference and "I"=current

Heat generated,H=VIt

V is independent of circuit resistance (say cell gives constant voltage), where as I is dependent on circuit resistance.

H in terms of V and R

H=VIt=V(V/R)t=V²t/R

Resistance is cut into two equal parts, It will become two resistors in series.

So new value of R'=R/2

Substitute this in heat equation.

H'=V²t/R'=V²t/(R/2)=2(V²t/R)=2H

The heat energy will become double.- a is the right answer.
