What are the approximate solutions of 2x2 − 7x = 3 rounded to the nearest hundredth?. . No real solutions. . x ≈ −0.77 and x ≈ 7.77. . x ≈ −0.39 and x ≈ 3.89. . x ≈ −3.89 and x ≈ 0.39

The solution to the problem is as follows:

2x² - 7x = 3 can be re-written as 2x² - 7x - 3 = 0

Either by completing the square or using the quadratic formula this can be solved .

Let's complete the square.

2x² - 7x - 3 = 2(x² - 3.5x - 1.5) = 2(x - 1.75)² - 9.125....then we can put
2(x - 1.75)² = 9.125 : (x - 1.75)² = 9.125/2 = 4.5625
x - 1.75 = √4.5625 ≈ ± 2.14
x = 1.75 ± 2.14 .....thus x ≈ 3.89 and x ≈ - 0.39
