Given : total amount payable for a commodity is 9600 in a state with cgst and sgst both equal to 10 %
To Find : the total amount payable for the same commodity in a different state with an sgst of 5 %
Solution:
Let say Price of commodity before GST = P
10 % CGST = (10/100)P = 0.1P
10 % SGST = (10/100)P =0.1P
Price including GST = P + 0.1P + 0.1P = 1.2P
1.2P = 9600
=> P = 8000
in other state sgst = 5 %
SGST & CGST are always same
Hence CGST in other state = 5 %
SGST = (5/100) 8000 = 400
CGST = (5/100) 8000 = 400
Amount including GST = 8000 + 400 + 400 = 8800
amount payable for the same commodity in a different state = 8800
