Why sponge is compressible though it is a solid

Comment on the following statements:

a) Sponge though compressible is a solid.b) Sand and water both take the shape of container in which it is kept, yet sand is a solid water is a liquid.

1) The sponge is compressible being a solid because of the presence of air cavities inside it. The sponge has numerous pores in it which can be referred to as air cavities, in which air is trapped and on compressing it comes out of the sponge.

These pores are the reason why sponge can easily soak liquid into it.

2) Sand and water both can take up the shape of the container in which it is stored. Sand being a solid have the capacity to do so because the sand particles are not closely packed and an individual sand particle is not attached to other particles.

The sand itself is not solid but the particles of sand are solid which arrange according to the shape of the container or the jar, they are kept in.

Take any three non-collinear points a b c and draw triangle a,b,c. through each vertex of the triangle draw a line parallel to the opposite side using ruler and compass
