Sodium chloride is used to clear snow from the roads. Explain

Sodium chloride is sprinkled on roads to clear snow. It is a colligative property of water that when a solid such as sodium chloride is put in it, it lowers the melting point of the given water than normal because it hinders the water from forming a crystalline lattice at the time of freezing. Hence, very salty water freezes a few degrees Celsius below normal water, which aids us to prevent snow from forming.
