Why does an aqueous solution of an acid conduct electricity?

Answered by admin @

When acids are dissolved in water, they breaks to form H+ ions. Since, these H+ ions cannot exists individually, they combine with the water molecules to form hydronium ions (H_{3}O+). These hydronium ions are good electrical conductor and conducts electricity. Hence, aqueous solution of acids conducts electricity.
