The density of neon is highest at

(1) STP
(2) 0°C, 2 ATM
(3) 273K, 1 ATM
(4) 273°C, 2atm

Answered by admin @

Answer:

The density of neon is highest at 0°C, 2 ATM.

Option (2).

Explanation:

Density depends on two main factors namely, temperature and pressure. Pressure causes a substance to expand or contract. When the pressure is high then the compression is high but when the pressure is low then the expansion is high.

The increase in compression results in the increase of density and the molecules are more closely packed together. Opposite is the case with temperature. When it rises the density falls and the density increases with its rise. Therefore the density will always be the greatest when the temperature is lowest and pressure is highest.
