The inner walls of the stomach secrete a gastric juice which contains three substances:
1.Hydrochloric Acid(HCl)
2.Enzyme pepsin
3.Mucus.
The function of HCl is to make the food acidic.
The enzyme pepsin digests the proteins.
The Mucus protects the stomach from its own secretions of HCl...
#That is, as mucus is a part of stomach nd it does the function of protecting the stomach from its own secretions of HCl.... That's why we can say that stomach protects itself from its own secretions of HCl acid.....
