Answer : A single carbon atom can form a maximum of Four (4) covalent bond(s).

Explanation : A covalent bond, also called a molecular bond, is a chemical bond that involves the sharing of electron pairs between atoms. These electron pairs are known as shared pairs or bonding pairs.

Formation of covalent bond depends on the number of valence electrons. Electronic configuration of Carbon (C) is : 1s^{2},2s^{2},2p^{2}

Valence electronic configuration of C is :2s^{2},2p^{2}

Carbon have four valence electron that means Carbon can form maximum of four covalent bonds.

For example : In methane (CH4) Cabon can share four electrons with four Hydrogen atoms and can form four covalent bonds with 4 H.
