4g of copper was dissolved in conc. hno3. the copper nitrate thus obtained gave 5g of its oxide on strong heating the equivalent weight of copper is

Answered by admin @

Hello Dear.

Given in the question:-  4 g of copper gave 5 g of copper oxide when dissolved.

Therefore for finding the equivalent weight, Mass of oxygen in oxides are

Now weight of Oxygen in CuO :- 5 g - 4 g = 1

∴We know, weight of Cu which combine 1 g of O₂ = 4

Now weight of Cu which react 8 g of Oxygen = 4 x 8
=32

Hence equivalent weight of Cu is 32.

Hope it Helps.
