The flow of genetic information in a cell goes from _____. see concept 5.5 (page 84)

This is a core concept, called the Central Dogma of Molecular Biology; it was first stated by Francis Crick in 1958. It goes like this: DNA (mostly nuclear DNA is the container of genetic information) is transcribed to mRNA (messenger RNA) and thus a copy of genetic information is created. This exits the nucleus and is translated to proteins (the factories of the cell where this happens are called ribosomes. Sometimes we have RNA transcribed to DNA (in the case of DNA replication) but in general the flow of genetic information in a cell is succinctly: DNA is transcribed to RNA which is then translated to protein.
