1. How do you calculate magnification on a microscope? Explain how to focus a microscope using the high-power lens. Include any safety issues you need to be aware of. Why is it important to keep a microscope covered when you’re not using it? Sketch what you observe when examining the onion root tip using the low-power lens and the high-power lens. Label the sketches or write a brief description of your observations. Sketch what you observe when examining the Letter ""e"" using the low-power lens and the high-power lens. Describe what you saw.

Answer:

to calculate magnification on a microscope use formula:(x value of objective lens) X( x value of ocular lens ).to focus a microscope several adjustments are done ,explained below. when we are not using a microscope it is important to cover it because if uncovered microscope would might get damaged.

Explanation:

1. IN order to calculate magnification we multiply X value of ocular lens with X value of objective lens. for example if ocular lens is of 10X and that of objective lens is 40X then MAGNIFICATION POWER would be 400X.

2.in order to focus a microscope using a high power lens several COARSE and FINE ADJUSTMENTS are made. but in case of 100X obj lens OILY medium is used and we should handle it precisely.

3.microscope should be covered when not in use because if not then it might cause damage to microscope and its lenses .in that case microscope would not show proper results and magnification.

4.in case of "letter e" , and examining "onion root tip" with a low power lens ,microscope will nit give us a large magnification and picture formed will be small as compared to high power lens which give us greater magnification and more precise results.
